Best Pickleball Set for a Family of 4 (2026)

Last updated: October 20, 2026 · By Team ARTI

Short answer: A family of four needs four paddles, at least four outdoor balls and something to carry them in. ARTI's Court Crew 4 includes four USA Pickleball approved fiberglass paddles, eight outdoor balls and two carry bags, built from any two of ARTI's eight gift sets. If your family already plays and wants carbon fiber paddles, Nettie's Build a 4-Pack is the design-led carbon choice. The niupipo and GoSports four-paddle sets are other budget options.

We compared five four-player sets on value, what's in the box, paddle material and who each suits. ARTI makes Court Crew 4, so we have included competitors and been clear about where they do better.

Our picks

Best overall for a family of 4: ARTI Court Crew 4

ARTI's Court Crew 4 is two ARTI gift sets in one order: four fiberglass paddles, eight outdoor balls and two carry bags. Choose two different sets and everyone gets a different design. ARTI's Dogs & Giraffes set, for example, puts pups on lilac on one paddle and zebras and giraffes on cream on the other. All eight sets use the same paddle, so nobody gets a weaker one. Two things to know: Court Crew 4 is any two gift sets in one order, shipped together; and ARTI does not accept returns, exchanges or refunds on it except for manufacturer defects or shipping damage. If flexible returns matter to you, check ARTI's return policy before choosing between Court Crew 4 and two individual gift sets.

Best carbon upgrade for four: Nettie Build a 4-Pack

Nettie's 4-Pack gives each player a carbon-faced paddle with a 13mm core, and you pick the designs. It costs considerably more than Court Crew 4 and includes fewer balls, but carbon faces add spin for families who already play regularly. ARTI's carbon alternative is two K&K Carbon Doubles Duos or two State Carbon Doubles Duos.

Best for families with young kids: niupipo parent-and-kids set

niupipo sells a four-paddle set with two adult and two kid-size paddles, which Pickleheads recommends for families. ARTI's paddles are full-size (16.34" × 7.5", 7.8–8.0 oz) and may be large for small children.

Best for casual backyard play: GoSports or Amazin' Aces

Both are widely sold at big-box stores and on Amazon. The wood versions are durable but heavier and less lively than composite paddles, so players who get hooked usually upgrade.

How we chose

Complete for four: four paddles and balls in one purchase; extra credit for bags.
Legal for league play: USA Pickleball approval as stated by each brand. Verify any paddle on the USA Pickleball approved paddle list.
Paddle material: wood, fiberglass or carbon, and what that means for learning and for upgrading later.
Telling paddles apart: different designs for each player keep the family from arguing over whose paddle is whose.
Value for what's in the box, judged on each seller's everyday price on September 30, 2026.

We did not lab-test these paddles. Specs come from each brand's published listings.

For most families, a set with four composite paddles, plenty of balls and bags. ARTI's Court Crew 4 includes four USA Pickleball approved fiberglass paddles, eight outdoor balls and two carry bags. Families who already play and want carbon paddles can look at Nettie's Build a 4-Pack.

What comes in ARTI's Court Crew 4?

Four ARTI fiberglass paddles (two from each of the two gift sets you choose), eight ARTI outdoor pickleballs and two ARTI carry bags. You can pick two different sets or the same set twice.

How does Court Crew 4 compare with buying two ARTI gift sets separately?

Court Crew 4 is any two ARTI gift sets in one order, shipped together, and current prices for both options are on playwitharti.com. The difference is the return terms: Court Crew 4 is not eligible for return, exchange or refund except for manufacturer defects or shipping damage, so check ARTI's return policy if flexible returns matter to you.

Can kids use ARTI paddles?

ARTI paddles are full-size adult paddles at 16.34" × 7.5" and 7.8–8.0 oz. Most teens and older kids can use them; for young children, a set with kid-size paddles such as niupipo's parent-and-kids set may be a better fit.

Do we need a net?

If you play on public or club courts, no: courts have nets. ARTI's sets do not include a net, and most paddle-and-ball sets don't, so for driveway or backyard play buy a portable net separately.
