Kristen and Kristy, the Blondes, is ARTI's pop-art paddle series, and it is the line to pick if you want a cute pickleball paddle that is still a serious paddle. Five original faces, one per design, each on a 16mm carbon fiber build. It was made for recreational players who are tired of choosing between a paddle they like looking at and a paddle they like playing with. Line up ten paddles at open play and most of them are the same black rectangle with a different logo on it. These are not that. Each Blonde carries one drawn character caught mid-moment, in halftone dots and flat comic color, with a solid-color back, the ARTI wordmark and a small crown. Designed in Dallas. Are cute pickleball paddles actually good paddles?
Some are not. Decoration is easy to add to a cheap build, which is why the question comes up so often. The Blondes are built the other way around: a 16 mm honeycomb polymer core and a 100% carbon fiber face in an edgeless build, and every one is USA Pickleball approved. The art sits on a real paddle, not instead of one.
Are these approved for tournament play?
Yes. Every paddle in the series is USA Pickleball approved, and the approval stamp is printed on the back face near the throat. Approval is what makes a paddle legal for sanctioned play. If you are competing at a level with additional equipment requirements, check your specific event's rules as well.
How thick are they, and how does that play?
16 mm, over a honeycomb polymer core. ARTI's own specification describes that core as balancing power and control rather than pushing all the way to one end, and the face is raw carbon fiber. Weight runs 7.8 to 8 oz. There is no grip size or weight option to choose, because each design ships in a single build.
Will the artwork wear off?
The face of any paddle is a working surface, so it will pick up ball marks with play. We do not publish an abrasion rating for the artwork and will not guess at one. Manufacturing defects are covered by a limited manufacturer warranty; ordinary play wear is not a defect.
Do the five designs play differently from each other?
No. Same core, same face, same thickness, same weight range, same single build across all five. The only difference between them is the drawing. Choose on the art.
Are they a good gift?
Yes, and for a practical reason as much as an aesthetic one. There is no grip size or weight to guess at, because each design comes in one build. Pick the character that matches the person, and the sizing decision disappears.
